Description: Name: Nephrolenellus geniculatus (2)Age: Lower CambrianFormation: Pioche FormationLocation: Lincoln County, NevadaSize: Plate is 4.7 inches across! We recently acquired some nice fossils from the late Joseph Butterfield Collection (NJ). We will be auctioning these fossils here over the next few weeks. This is a striking pair of Lower Cambrian trilobites. These are both Nephrolenellus geniculatus from the Pioche Formation of Nevada. This aesthetic multiple specimen was recently acquired from the famous Butterfield Collection. Both ancient trilobites are complete, well articulated, and beautifully detailed - one of the bugs even shows the hypostoma (mouthplate) preserved on the thorax! The distinct trilobites are well spaced and wonderfully showcased on the rectangular block of shale. This is a very cool Nephrolenellus double from the Lower Cambrian of the Western United States.
