Description: About 10 years ago, I helped clear out the storage units of Dr. Sarah Forbes, who was the largest bidder at the Big U auction in 1984. Actually, they weren't storage units but were small private airplane hangers! There were hundreds of fittings from the ship in storage (chairs, table, doors, kitchenware, china, cabinets, etc., etc.), and I had my choice of the items. With the news that the ss United States is going to be reefed, I thought now would be a good time to offer the few chairs that I have left. This one is a chair from her first-class barber shop and is still in the original upholstery as taken of the ship in 1984. Measures about 33" x 19" x 18". Complete with metal tag underneath stating the location on the ship. If additional photos of the chair are needed, please send me a message.
