Regina 6 sp Freewheel 14-28 NOS spline style fantastic ratio fits Masi Cinelli

Description: A really great find - a Regina Extra 14-28 wide space freewheel that is NOS and affordable! With proper set-up you can typically make this freewheel work with a classic Campy Nuovo Record or Super Record rear derailleur if you have no more than a 10 tooth gap between your largest and smallest chainring. That's why folks have been going crazy trying to find 14-28's! The cogs are 14,16,18,21,25,28. This is a fantastic ratio - even space on the high gears and a 25 and 28 which are great for climbing! We think this is an ISO thread freewheel - it threads wonderfully on either BSC (aka English) or Italian hubs. It could be true Italian we suppose (no groove on backside typically indicates Italian) but the ones we've tried fit wonderfully on BSC hubs and we can tell no difference when comparing to a known ISO thread freewheel. So this is a great choice for either BSC or Italian threaded hubs. We have a few of these - the one you get will be of similar quality to the one shown in the photo. This is wide space freewheel for use in a frame/hub with 126mm spacing. The photos show some bright marks on the freewheel from bulk storage - your freewheel will be absolutely unused. We think this was probably a freewheel made for production bikes and uses a cog system later than the classic Regina Oro/Extra (probably uses something similar to the bx system). The fit of the body parts on this freewheel seems better than the old Regina system as there is less gap between the body parts. Importantly - this freewheel has been in bulk storage for many years - YOU MUST DRIP IN SOME FRESH OIL before using it. This is true for most older vintage freewheels. Never use grease. On our own bikes, we typically drip Phil Wood tenacious oil into the backside and let it soak in until it comes out the front side. Note that you can use a narrow chain (one intended for up to 8sp) on this freewheel with good results. But use of a wide space chain gives the real solid "ker-chunk" sound that vintage fans like. This item is perfect for that old Cinelli, Masi, Hetchins, Reynolds 531 or Columbus SL bicycle that you have.
