Description: Vintage Philippine Pinuti. This knife is long, but sturdy. It curves slightly along its length. I found this knife at a pawn shop in New Orleans in 30 years ago, but don’t know how or when it got overseas. Likely around WWII. Knife, handle and sheath are all in good shape, except for the tip of the sheath where the very point of the knife sticks out about a quarter inch. Steel blade is not corroded and holds a good edge. Blade is 17.5”. Overall knife length is 22.5”. Blade width is about 1” along most of its length. Blade thickness is 3/16” near the handle, and gradually gets thinner along its length. Sheath is in quite good shape except as mentioned at the tip. Wood handle is in excellent shape, very durable. I’ve learned that both the handle and the leather working of the sheath are typical for knives from southern Luzon.
