Description: Extremely rare Texas made likely early 1950’s blue jeans. For over thirty years I have tried to find someone, anyone who had seen or heard anything about this brand or even seen or heard of another pair of these jeans. And I say that as a denim crazed picker of nearly forty years with friends and contacts in the know. Even all around Texas, including Brownsville and the whole surrounding area many many times I never found a single person. Whomever the McNairs were they sure went about making jeans with terrific thick indigo denim, excellent varied and sometimes unique stitching. They were or had excellent tailors and seamstress in their employ. In that area at the time, cowboys, oil workers etc., were going to put anyone who tried making jeans through one hell of a test. As this pair demonstrates they went through a lot and held up well. The stitching in back where old Levi’s would have had a buckle is interesting. Also very similar leather patch to the “beef jerky” Levis used early on. A nod to Lee in the style of the back pockets. And at times I see hints of styling from brands like Big Mac and more. Multicolor threads with almost braided stitching inside back pockets and front watch pocket. No selvedge in the legs. A rather heavy duty pair of copper rivets in each of the front pockets. Heavy grade Talon brass zipper. Oddly, a smaller top snap than than you might expect and belt loops accommodating at most an 1 1/4” wide belt. There is fraying along inner thigh but not coming apart at the seam. Typical cowboy saddle wear. There are several black oil like stains all around. Work in oil fields or rigs, no doubt. If you are a curator or serious collector you have a chance to be the only one or less than one handful to have this Texas denim gem in your collection. Insurance and in person signature upon delivery required.
