MONARCH 1930s AVIATOR STYLE HALF BELT ITALIAN LEATHER HORSE HIDE JACKET BUILD

Description: You are now admiring some of my custom made jackets. In this case, from a long time favorite maker of mine and inspired by a rare original jacket. All patterned using an authentic same 1st generation (from that early model jacket to first use a zipper for closure) model Monarch jacket design build to suit. This Monarch jacket is a truly accurate rendition. Let me tell you all about it! This particular proposed jacket build (sized 36 through 48) will be done as a mid 1930s Monarch Aviator in the Half Belt style. Very well appointed with all those available accouterments as seen back in the day. All of which now make my jackets so great and an absolute pleasure to wear. Monarch's early style Half Belt jackets are characterized by having a slightly smaller back panel. Thus creating an ever so slightly smaller sleeve hole & greater angle to the shoulders. Also making the shoulders seams just visible when viewed from the back. All the while adding more cup to the collar hole at the back panel & in between the shoulder seams. In addition, a noticeable droop to the front along the hem where it terminates at the zipper's connection points. All seen here with this build. The proposed outer shell seen on these examples is a vegetable tanned hide with a slow wear top coat aka Vicenza/Victory horsehide. This horsehide was acquired by me from Italy which I had specially made for my use. It is a medium weight that will require some break in but only just. All hardware to be used to build this fine jacket is period correct. The main zipper assembly being a grommet type repro Talon zipper. The front pocket zipper being a period correct ball and chain slider. To keep this jacket in the spirit of the 1930's your jacket will be stitched using 100% cotton. Buttonholes done using my vintage Reece 101 Keyhole Buttonhole machine & also restored and brought back to life by me. In addition I have acquired the same double needle machine originally used by Monarch that allows me to create French seamed jackets in their entirety. All done exactly as originally made by Monarch & all lending to a wonderful added touch of authenticity. Your jacket's suggested body lining is a light to medium (shirt weight) & 100% wool or 10 oz twill. With either a Rayon or Cotton twill for the sleeve's lining. All set up with inset 100% wool cuffs included. All as originally seen done by Monarch back in the day. With any of my given jackets & to create the absolute best build possible I use up to five completely different machines to create a given jacket. As previously explained two of which were the exact same as originally used by Monarch MFG. on their builds back in the day. Recently, I made a same design (Pre-War Monarch) with some subtle upgraded changes to the back panel. Among those changes include non pocket flapped or slash pocket configuration, doubled top stitch pocket work, alternate pre War era Monarch label. All seen in the last four descriptive images in lieu of flapped pockets. Furthermore I am now offering an almost unheard of upgraded of creating my standard jacket using French seams where ever applicable complete & throughout. A step more often than not avoided by most. Done using the exact same machine Monarch used back in the day. All seen with the two jackets equipped with the yoke back triple pleated action backed jackets in the last few images. French seams make for a time consuming option. Because of that rarely seen done by most jacket makers. However, French seams are an original nuance that adds much to the elegant design seen used originally and exclusively on all vintage Monarch jackets. Now offered here with your build as a standard. For those interested in an altogether unique jacket I've added another optional upgrade for this particular build. In this case, a half gusset to the sleeves. All used back in the day & perfected by me through a study using my four original 1930s half gusset sleeved equipped jackets. To include an altogether one of a kind half gusset sleeved Monarch Mfg jacket also from within personal collection. This sleeve half gusset option I'm offering here will add an entire new dimension to you jacket. These half gussets will give your jacket both an absolute unique & aesthetically pleasing look. Above all give you the added advantage of increased mobility. Furthermore, this same upgraded sleeve set up was sometimes seen as an option on original 1940's and earlier Beck 333 Northeaster Flying Togs model jackets. Now also seen used by the Japanese vintage reproduction jacket maker FREEWHEELERS. An example of my jacket build that is equipped with half gussets can be seen in that last descriptive image. That image of the jacket with half gusseted sleeves is seen as a reverse view. Besides having half gussets It also has several upgrades. Those upgrades include double stitched slash pockets and a yoked triple pleated action back panel. All done with French seams complete wherever applicable in it's entirety. All done exactly as Monarch did to created it's jackets during the 1930s. Moreover, I recently acquired some fine looking vegetable tanned goat hide in a number of different colors that would make for a great looking and slightly more economical build verses horse hide.
