Description: An antique Japanese hand carved wood advertising sign for a pharmacy. It's solid wood covered in a coat of lacquer. The kanji writing has been carved into the wood with powdered gold mixed with lacquer painted over the lettering. (makie). The right side lettering says this medicine is good for fever, cold and "woman's medicine" Left side states it's sold at Morita store and Fujiya pharmacy. It's 47 3/4 inches wide, 17 17/8 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches thick. It weighs 10 pounds. We have been selling Japanese antiques for 25 years.
