Description: This Grand Tour sculpture depicts Silenus the Lamp Bearer. The original sculpture in green bronze was found in Pompeii and is in the Naples Museum. There is an Illustration in The History of Rome by Victor Duruy (Kegan Paul, Trench & Co, 1884) swpixting this sculpture. The piece has a green patina and is very well defined. It is nmounted on a grey marble plinth. Condition is very good, some mild abrasions to the top of the marble, no other defects.Measurements are: base is 3 1/4" by 3 1/4" height is 7 3/8".
