Description: This offering is for a replica of a Confederate States of America (CSA) Artillery Sword and scabbard. It is similar to the swords produced by Nashville Plow Works during the War. Weapons used by the Confederacy tended to be heavier and more cumbersome than their Northern counterparts – in part due to often using materials at hand (i.e., a plow tine) to craft weapons and, in part, due to preference of procurement officers. The artillery Sword produced by Nashville Plow Works is a good example of a heavy duty sword. Patterned after Roman swords, they were manufactured by the Sharp and Hamilton Company of Nashville, TN and sold under the name “Nashville Plow Works” .The reproduction offered here has carefully followed the original swords; there is a broad, double edge blade and heavy brass handle and guard. The guard has the letters “C” and “S” stamped on opposite ends of the guard. A leather covered, brass accented scabbard provides safe housing for the weapon.Features:Heavy Weight Short SwordOverall Length: 29.5"Handle Length: 6"Blade Length: 20" Double Edged, not sharpBlade Material: High Carbon Steel Handle Material: BrassScabbard: Leather Covered Hard Scabbard with Brass TrimWeight; 3 lbs
