ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA617NT - PLEASE READ (Very Important)

Description: Preface: This laptop is NOT broken. As you can see, it boots up perfectly fine to the Windows set up screen. Please take into careful consideration everything in this listing before purchasing. What's wrong: I did not research the quality control of this model before purchasing. Apparently, a variety of issues have arisen from the experiences of people who have owned this laptop. I had bought one unit at Best Buy and had to return it because it would not turn unless the battery was disconnected from the laptop. Yes, the battery had to actually not be connected in order for it to turn on. I tested this for hours before returning it and getting a replacement unit, but the issues of the first unit should have been the red flag to stay away. With this second unit, the issues are two. The first issue is that 20% of the time, it would vibrate where the right fan and heatsink that sits on top of it are. After checking it, that side of the heatsink has a little bit of lift whereas the other side is tightly put in place. This causes, at times, the heatsink to vibrate against the fan mostly at high fan speeds. However, the vibration can still happen at lower fan speeds. The vibrating goes away as randomly as it came. 80% of the time, it's very quiet. I am almost 100% positive that a thin piece of double-side tape sticking the heatsink to the chassis will fix it. I'm too frustrated with this laptop to do it. The second issue is that the standoff for the second M.2 slot had loosened and came off. You can see from the pictures, I tried to solder it back on because it was the only thing I could think of. It held it in place, until you turned the screw once and the solder came off. I'm not sure how else to put it back on there. So, unless you're willing to put a strong piece of tape on top of the standoff and anchor it to the HDMI port next to it, I don't see how else to put it back on, yet I have 0 clue how it came off in the first place. However, that standoff and the screw will be shipped inside the box with the laptop if you wish to give it a go. I installed a 512GB Gen4 M.2 and only 1 stick of 8GB RAM, both that I took out of a new HP Victus I had purchased in replacement of this. This was my dream laptop and it had everything I could ever look for, and I don't think I can purchase another unit just out of principle. Maybe I will look at a next gen model. Until then, I have to look elsewhere. Who is this for: If you're someone with the RAM upgrade at the ready and don't mind having only one M.2 slot, this is for you. If you're someone who wants to try remedying the 2 aforementioned issues and get a monstrous machine at a lower-than-average price, this is for you. This is an ultra settings 1440p-4k gaming laptop with 12 hours of battery life on productivity. I played Episode Aegis on my LG OLED at native 4K getting 65-78 FPS. Yes, it HAS a MUX switch, and with GHelper, you can limit charging to 40% to lengthen battery lifespan. Screen has high body to screen ratio and high color accuracy with 165hz refresh rate with a 7ms response time. As I said, my dream computer. It also has no gamer design language. Has it for about 3-4 months. No dust or dirt whatsoever. Pictures of the heatsink and fan models are also included if you consider any replacement parts, just in case.
