Description: Antique Grand Tour Gilt Bronze Mythological Tazza - Dimensions are ; 6 1/4" high , top plate diameter is 7 1/4" , the base diameter is 3 1/2" . Material is partially gilt bronze . This truly magnificent Tazza is , like many , decorated with mythological images of the sea . Poseidon , goddesses , sea nymphs , ocean monsters , Tridents , swans , dogs , masks and all manner of ornament appear on virtually every part of this object . Not only is the top plate richly modeled but the underside as well . The stem is abundantly adorned further with gods , rams and more decorative elements than can be counted . This Tazza is just spectacular and being gilt bronze it wears its age wonderfully in a burst of brilliantly warm tones and hues . It disarticulates into 5 pieces with a threaded center rod . There is no significant issue of integrity with the piece , only some sporadic wear to the gilding and it has a good heft to it . These Tazzas normally sell for upwards of $1200 , however we've priced this one very affordably .
