Here is a rare and lustrous red gem keel piece of Ammolite, from the Cretaceous about 70 million years ago. From the Bearpaw Formation of Southern Alberta, Canada. Polished on one side. It measures about 67 mm. at the longest measurement, and weighs 27 grams. Some areas look to be a sort of root beer red, other areas more like cherry red, in our opinion.
