I try to fashion all my jewelry to highlight what's most important " The Gemstone". This is how I've always created my jewelry, and now this style is becoming popular and is known as Minimalist Art. This pendant features a 37 carat, 23x19mm (12mm=1/2") free form Ammolite gem. The seller of this gem did not list it's grade, but I would say it is an "AA" grade I try to take all photos using bright sunlight (the most natural light that there is) because that's how I feel Ammolite looks it's best. Lines that you see in the stone are not cracks, but rather are natural inclusions often found in Ammolite gems. Pyrite (thin gold veins) and Limonite (thicker black lines) are commonly seen in Ammolite. The surface of this stone is smooth and flat. This Ammolite brightly flashes colors over the entire surface of the stone as you move the piece around. The Ammolite displays shades of green and shades of blue highlighted by red, all depending on how the light hits the stones surface. One area of this Ammolite picks up light on a different plane from the rest of the stone. As a result, that small area flashes it's colors at a different angle than the rest of the gem stone. The overall size of the pendant is 1 1/2" high by 7/8" wide. The natural Ammolite in this piece of jewelry came from Alberta, Canada. It was cut and finished by lapidary artisans who take great pride in the work they do......working with Ammolite. This stone is hand polished and none of their natural Ammolites are ever coated.
