Description: Up for your consideration is a brilliant Ammolite pendant, handmade with sterling silver. I try to fashion all my jewelry to highlight what's most important " The Gemstone". This is how I've always created my jewelry, and now this style is becoming popular and is known as Minimalist Art. This pendant features a large 30mm x19mm (12mm=1/2") - 26 carat, free form Ammolite gem. I always list carat weight of the Ammolite I use, because people always want to know " how many carats"? The truth, with Ammolite, is that carat weight is not important. Rather, the surface area of the gem stone (mm x mm) is what matters. The thickness of most Ammolite varies between 2-6 mm, and it is the thickness ( not really important) that is indicated by the carat weight. I always give the actual size of the stone for every piece of jewelry I create. The seller of this gem did not list its grade , but I would say it is an "AA" grade stone. I try to take all photos using bright sunlight (the most natural light that there is) because that's how I feel Ammolite looks it's best. Lines that you see in the stone are not cracks, but rather are natural inclusions often found in Ammolite gems. Pyrite (thin gold veins) and Limonite (thicker black lines) are commonly seen in Ammolite. The surface of this stone is smooth and flat. These photos were mainly taken outside in sunlight. This Ammolite brightly displays red, orange, florescent green and royal blue, all depending on how the light hits the stones surface. The overall size of the pendant is 1 5/8" high by 7/8" wide. The natural Ammolite in this piece of jewelry came from Alberta, Canada. It was cut and finished by lapidary experts who take great pride in the work they do......working with Ammolite. This stone is hand polished and none of their natural Ammolites are ever coated. This Ammolite is set in Sterling silver and comes with a free 18" hypoallergenic stainless steel chain as shown.Good quality Ammolite is difficult to find these days. If you can find a nice piece, expect to pay at least hundreds of dollars for it. Fortunately, I still have high grade Ammolite that I have purchased over the last 30 years. I will continue to make Ammolite jewelry until my collection of gem stones is gone or until my hands are no longer physically able to do the work.
