You will have to connect the usb cord to usb outlet— please excuse the slightly angled top, I was trying to hold the power battery up and out of the way while taking pics. It does not lean to side when disconnected. I just didnt want to unwrap the new cord. The packaging lists it as 9x 9 but I measured and it seems to be 9 x 8.5 x 9 inches, single LED strip. Easy unfold and button assembly. Background colors hook onto back slots. Very simple. All comes in one easy travel bag. For small items this would be perfect to take pictures.
