Description: 1960 Facsimile reprint of The Pony Express Bible Stated on the inside of the front cover: "In honour of the Pony Express and it's riders and to do honour to the one thousand 1960 Centennial Reenactment riders, five hunder of whom rode east and five hundred who rode west, The Colt Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co. made one thousand Russell, Majors and Waddell Presentation Model Colt .45 Peace-Makers. The revolvers were numbered PE 1-E through PE 500-E and PE 1-W through PE 500-W. This Bible, a near facsimile of the Bibles which were given to the original 1860-61 Pony Express riders, is a companion to the revolver of like number. It has been said that the 1860-61 Pony Express riders were armed with a Colt Revolver on one side and a Bible on the other. Pony Express History and Art Gallery" Title page states Self-Pronouncing Edition. National Bible Press, Philadelphia, PA. Nice leather binding with beautiful embossed design on covers and spine. Bible is very solid. There is a cut in the leather across the front cover and edge of spine, but it is not affecting the integrity of the Bible. I'm not exactly sure of which edition this is a facsimile of. I would have expected it to be a facsimile of an American Bible Society edition, but this one is of a National Bible Press printing. Measures a little over 5.5" x 4" and a little over 1" thick. Please review pictures for a better idea of the condition.
